You can never have too much makeup! – something I strongly believe and live by everyday. (Even though it may not be the healthiest for my bank account…) So when scrolling through Superdrug a few weeks ago I came across some new makeup that I’d never seen before and some that I had but had never tried. And they were all on offer!! Which basically meant I HAD to buy them.
So heres what I got:
- L’oréals new Shaping Kit: The Pore Refiner. Which includes their new Infallible Pore Refining Primer, a sponge tipped applicator, their new Infallible stick foundation in shades 100 Ivory & 210 Cappuccino, one for foundation and one to contour and then I got their Infallible stick highlighter in shade 503 Slay in Rose. I was most excited for the primer as I love primers that fill in pores and just blur out any imperfections!
- Maybelline’s The Burgundy Bar Palette, I just loved the colours and I hadn’t tried Maybellined eye shadows in a long time so I was intrigued as to how they would work on the eyes.
- Maybelline’s Age Rewind concealer in Neutralizer. I already had this concealer in Light (which btw is the same shade if not darker than my skin) which I do really like, and the Neutralizer shade looked lighter! (I saw after that they’re bringing out an Ivory shade which I’m SUPER excited for!)
So of course I had to use them all for a first impressions post! And this is the look I created;
I also tried filming a video for the second time, and I think I’m kind of getting the hang of it! I’d love to know what you think so let me know down in the comments or over on my Instagram!
I can’t figure out how to get the video into the post but if you click here you’ll go straight to the instagram post!
Now onto the review!
So starting with the primer, I noticed a difference compared to using no primer and it did smooth out my skin quite nicely. Although, it didn’t quite live up to some of my other favourite primers.
Moving on to the foundation, I would say it’s probably medium coverage and quite a natural finish. But it was still a really nice foundation that looked really pretty on the skin! My only problem with this foundation is after a few hours it does tend to settle in my smile lines, but I’m hoping using another foundation in that area or a different concealer will solve the problem.
Next I tried the contour and highlighter sticks. The colour I’d guessed on for contour was a little warm for me but still definitely works and is actually one of the nicer cream contours I’ve ever tried. The surprising part was that it blended really nicely on my forehead, which most don’t do. The highlight was also really nice to apply, and I’m not usually one for cream highlight. It wasn’t blinding alone but when I added a powder highlight on top it definitely was! So I think this would be perfect alone for a more natural look!
Finally, the Maybelline Age Rewind concealer in Neutralizer. The formula is still as good as in the light shade, meaning it doesn’t settle in lines under my eyes or on my face and gives extra coverage without being cakey. The colour is much lighter but quite yellow which means it works but isn’t the best. I wish they had a shade similar to the Fit Me concealer in 05, hopefully the Ivory shade is!
The only face product I haven’t tried is the sponge applicator… I’ve meant to test it but I forget every time, so if I ever do I’ll try to remember to let you know how it worked!
Now onto the star of the show… The Burgundy Bar palette! As you can see from the swatches the shimmers were super pigmented and the shades are also really pretty! The mattes were also nice and very easy to work with, I wish there was more than 2 mattes in the palette but the shimmers totally make it worth it’s! As I have plenty of mattes in other palettes that I can use.
So overall I was impressed by everything I got! But if I could only recommend one I product it would definitely be the burgundy bar!
Thank you for reading! And if you have any ideas for things you want to see in the future then I’d love to see them down in the comments!
